Privacy Policy

Peel — My Digital Closet · Last updated: 27 August 2026

Because there is nothing to sign in to, Peel collects no personal data at all. There are no ads, no trackers and no analytics, and there is nothing for us to sell or share. This page explains where your data actually lives, the few moments the app talks to the internet, and how to erase everything.

Where your data lives

• On your device: the photos you take, the details you add (category, brand, price, notes, colours) and everything you build from them — outfits, events, trips, calendar plans, wear history — are kept in the app’s own private storage on your device, together with your preferences (theme, text size, favourite stores, view settings). If you keep several closets, each one has its own separate storage.
• In your device backup: if you back up your iPhone or iPad, the app’s data is included in that backup, exactly like any other app’s. That backup belongs to you and is governed by Apple’s privacy terms, not by us.
• In your own iCloud Drive, as .peel backup files: Peel keeps a backup of each closet in a “Peel” folder in your iCloud Drive — one file per closet — so you can restore it after a lost or replaced device, or AirDrop it to another device of yours. The app refreshes that backup quietly in the background when your closet has changed, so a recent copy always exists. Separately, Export to File… saves a dated backup file wherever you choose — by default into a “Manual Backups” folder inside the same “Peel” folder — and never overwrites an earlier export. A backup file contains that closet’s photos and data, including your try-on photo if you have added one — worth remembering before you share a backup file with someone else. These files sit in your personal iCloud account (or wherever you put them); we cannot open them or see that they exist. You can switch iCloud storage for Peel off at any time in iOS Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Peel, and you can delete the files yourself from the Files app.

Peel’s AI features

Automatic background removal, garment recognition, colour naming, AI Reshape and AI Try-On (which uses the one full-body photo you choose to add) all run through Apple’s technologies — on your device, or on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute under your own Apple Account — under Apple’s privacy terms. Peel does not send your photos to us — we have no server to send them to — and does not send them to any third-party AI service.

When Peel uses the internet

Peel works fully offline. There are only three occasions when it makes a network request, and none of them carries anything that identifies you:

• Weather: forecasts come from Open-Meteo for the city you choose — and for the places you type into your trips and events — so the app can suggest what suits the day.
• Trip photos: destination cover images come from the Pexels API using the destination name only.
• The in-app store browser: when you open a shop’s website inside Peel to save something to your wish list, you are browsing that website normally, and that website’s own privacy policy applies — exactly as it would in Safari.

Two honest notes about the store browser. First, like any browser it keeps a short local history of the pages you visit (so recent shops are easy to reopen) and stores ordinary website cookies on your device — including a shop account you sign in to. The history is yours to wipe with Settings → Clear Browsing History; note that Erase All Data does not clear it, because it belongs to the device, not to a closet. Second, buying happens outside Peel: the moment a shop moves to its checkout, the payment page opens in Safari — or whichever browser you have set as your default. Nothing is wrong with the browser inside Peel — this is simply a line we chose to draw. Peel is for your wardrobe, and we prefer it to have nothing to do with payments at all; your own browser is also where your saved cards, passwords and autofill already live, so checking out there is easier anyway.

Your purchase

Peel is bought once from the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your name, your email or your payment details. Apple’s own privacy policy covers that transaction.

What we don’t do

• No accounts, no sign-up, no profile.
• No advertising and no ad identifiers.
• No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs.
• No selling, renting or sharing of your data — we hold none of it.

Deleting your data

All of it is yours to erase, and none of it needs our involvement:

• Delete the app — everything it stores on the device goes with it, all at once. Your .peel backup files are deliberately not part of that: they are ordinary documents in your iCloud Drive, so they survive the app’s deletion — that is what makes a lost phone, or a deleted-then-regretted app, recoverable. Reinstall Peel and they are back in the restore list. (Only an export you saved into the app’s own “On My iPhone” folder goes away with the app.)
• Erase one closet — in the app, Settings → Erase All Data wipes the closet you are currently in: its items and photos, wish list, outfits, events, trips, calendar history, your try-on photo — and that closet’s automatic iCloud backup. Other closets, and backup files you exported yourself, are not touched.
• Delete your backups — remove the .peel files from the Peel folder (and its Manual Backups folder) in the Files app, as you would any other document. Do this too if you want truly everything gone.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR give you the right to access, correct or delete the personal data a company holds about you. Peel collects nothing and we hold nothing: there is no account and no server copy of your wardrobe, so there is nothing for us to look up, export or erase on your behalf. If you have a question about any of this, write to us and we will answer.

Children

Peel is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, of any age.
